The fifth manned mission of SpaceX and NASA has been postponed to October 3 due to the expected traffic on the International Space Station (ISS) at the end of September, the US space agency reported.
Crew-5, led by Commander Nicole Mann, had planned to take off from Cape Canaveral, Florida (USA), on September 29, although those responsible for the mission had anticipated the possibility of a postponement.
“The date adjustment allows for additional separation with spacecraft traffic arriving and departing from the space station,” NASA said in a blog dedicated to the mission, revealing that liftoff is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. local time. of that day (16.45 GMT).
The Crew-5 will be the eighth manned mission carried out by SpaceX since the beginning of its operations, and also the first to be commanded by a woman, Mann, who in turn will make her first space trip.
Likewise, inside the Dragon Endurance capsule that will be used in this mission, a ship that was previously used in Crew-3, will travel Anna Kikina, who will become the first cosmonaut of the Russian space agency Roscosmos to board a ship from SpaceX.
The crew is completed by NASA astronaut Josh Cassada, as well as Koichi Wakata, from Japan’s JAXA, who will make his fifth space trip with this mission, as highlighted by NASA.
